Science Week 2017: Volcanoes

This year’s science week will focus on the topic of volcanoes. Although the project is standardised, we are not expecting the same final model form all schools. This is because each school will have a different STEM Ambassador with a different speciality. Different speciality means different ideas, knowledge and concepts for the final volcano explosion.

Each school will have to:

  • Produce a model to illustrate the different parts of a volcano
  • Prepare a 2 minute video for the judges
  • Submit a document showing their expenditure in relation to the budget

Judging Process:

Impartial judges will work in pairs and judge several projects
  • Each project will be judged multiple times
  • There are a total of 25 marks available
  • Judging Criteria:

    • Research
    • Understanding
    • Communication skills
    • Originality
    • Bonus points for the most impressive eruption experience
